E Safety Update – What parents need to know about Momo
It has recently come to our attention that many of our children are accessing inappropriate content on the internet whilst we appreciate the learning opportunities that come with the effective use of technology we also need to acknowledge the dangers. Therefore I am writing to you today to warn you about an e-safety concern that I have realised some of our children may have seen online.
Momo game/challenge
This is a scary picture that has circulated around the world and has been linked to a suicide challenge. It is reported that there have been a number of teen deaths attributed to this in other countries. This is a game which encourages self-harm and which has been spreading through social media.
Please be aware that this seems to be a ‘craze’ that is spreading amongst our children. Ensure that you take time to talk about what your children’s online activity involves, make this a regular conversation so that we are all working together to keep our children safe.
